The following are some protocols for using the Young Living oils. It is usually best to dilute the oils at least to half using V-6 Massage Oil (YL) or some vegetable oil such as jojoba, olive, sesame, or almond oil that you have on hand. Maria likes jojoba best because it is wonderful for the skin and does not go rancid.
- PAIN: Apply Peppermint, PanAway blend, Believe blend, Balsom Fir, or Vetiver, either directly on the area or on the bottoms of feet, preferably on the areas corresponding to the part of the body that is hurting.
Use Oregano and Thyme for microbes, Basil for muscle spasms, Marjoram for smooth muscles, Wintergreen for bones, Lemongrass for connective tissue, Peppermint for nerves, and Cypress for circulation. Helichrysum is a strong anti-inflammatory oil.
- CONGESTION: Apply Peppermint and/or RC Blend and/or Raven on back (lungs), throat, below nose, temples, sinuses, and bottoms of feet (preferably on the lung points).
- RELAXATION/INSOMNIA: Lavender, Frankincense, Myrrh, Sandalwood, Peace & Calming and Joy blends - Apply a few drops on one palm, rub hands together, then inhale deeply for a couple of minutes. Also could apply on ear lobes, bottoms of feet, big toes (for brain/head), and/or around the nose.
- DEPRESSION/GRIEF: Bergamot, Eucalyptus, Clary Sage, Myrtle, Juniper, Lavender - also blends: Valor, Joy, Hope, Present Time, Believe, or Release - Inhaling is a great place to begin, then place on body as/where you feel inspired.
- NAUSEA: Apply Patchouli, Ginger, Peppermint, or Nutmeg oil behind each ear and over navel 2 - 3 times hourly. Also compress, warm, over stomach, as needed. Direct inhalation and orally on tongue can be helpful also.
- FEVER: Apply Peppermint oil on forehead, temples, feet, and/or back.
- DIGESTION: Peppermint, Di-gize blend
- BREATHING CHALLENGES: Rosemary, Lemon, and Peppermint combined can make a lovely blend to increase oxygen; also Myrtle and Believe blend. Inhale, also apply on chest area.
- ITCHING: Peppermint - apply directly on affected area.
- IMPROVING MEMORY: Sage, Peppermint, Cardamom, Rosemary, and Frankincense - inhale, place on temples, forehead, or back of head (upper neck area), and/or big toes (head points)
- EMOTIONAL STRENGTHENING: Valor, Believe, Grounding, and Hope blends.
- KILLING GERMS: Peppermint, Geranium, Rosemary, Marjoram, Lemongrass, Oregano, Thyme, Basil, Thieves blend.
- MEDITATION/COMMUNICATING SPIRITUALLY: Sandalwood, Frankincense, Cedarwood, and Harmony blend.
- FOCUSING: Galbanum, Frankincense, Sandalwood, Melissa, Magnify Your Purpose blend.
- LETTING GO: For a lovely and romantic blend, Maria recommends blending some Sandalwood, Rose, and Patchouli with the same amount of Jojoba oil. Release and Forgiveness blends are also wonderful to help in letting go of old, negative emotions.
- PREPARING THE SOUL FOR DEATH: Anoint the crown of the head and/or forehead with Frankincense (also feet and areas of tumors) and/or Sage.
- ALZHEIMER'S CARE: To calm confused or combative patients, Frankincense can be most helpful: Caregiver can apply oil on their hands and run hands through the energy field of the confused/combative individual, especially around their head.
- VALOR BLEND: This is a wonderful oil to place on the bottoms of the feet at any time, for strengthening, to help straighten the spine, and to assist all other oils in their absorption into the body. It's a good oil to start the "oiling process" with!
The use of oils is a wonderful way to connect with those who are preparing to die. It increases relaxation, allows for the tenderness of touch, it gives loved ones something to do to assist the ones they care for, and the oils bless everyone who is in the room with their aromas as well. The only thing to keep in mind is that some people can be allergic to some of these oils. In this case you will need to limit the use of them.
